Is A-level needed for getting job in Finland?

Post by Alisa2010 » Tue Jun 15, 2010 11:45 pm

Hello, I need help...

I´ll work as an aupair from October until June 2011 and after that I would like to stay in Finland but my question is if I need the A-level (which most people in Finland have) for getting a job or education place or further school place in Finland? Because I "only" have the GCSE (General Certificate of Secondary Education) which is a good school qualification in Germany.

I hope someone of you can help me...

Thank you! :-)

Yeah, you are speaking Hebrew now. What is an A-level? A-beer is something we have. Reifeprüfung is what Germans have... Basically into a polytechnic you can get with vocational school papers, universities are slightly pickier, but they always list acceptable paperwork and theres always magical "or the equivalent".

Eligibility
* Finnish matriculation examination or upper secondary school leaving certificate
* European baccalaureate, International baccalaureate or Reifeprüfung examination,
* Vocational qualification of three years or more in duration (less than three years gives eligibility when in the same field of study)
* Non-Finnish degree or studies equivalent to the above mentioned qualifications.

"A level" UK cert is probably the equivalent of a good pass in a subject in final year at Lukio.

GCSE would be OK for entry to a "Profession College" e.g. To further specialist vocation study.

But whatever your qualification you will need Finnish language for most jobs.

You will be here October until June 2011 check out the situation while you are here.
