Nowhere to legally watch the England game in the morning?!
Re: Cricket World Cup 2011 - Telecast
The testmatchsofa.com (yeah, ODIs as well) are doing free live (legal) commentary, at least.

I listened to testmatchsofa.com for the India England match today, &, apart from a bit of swearing, the commentary is quite bearable & pretty knowledgeable! I was screaming my head off towards the climax of the match this evening, awesome, wow, wow!

Throughout the day, I used varying combinations of Test Match Sofa, Cricinfo, Guardian OBO, dodgy SKY streams and Takeshi's Castle to follow and make sense of what was happening - as well as uppers and downers at various points. The finale was indeed incredible - the wife must've been closest to calling for me to taken away to the rubber room when, fists pumping, I bellowed 'SHAHZAAAAAAAAD!!!!' in the final over. What probably saved me was that she'd first want me to fix the rug from where I'd taken guard for the final few overs.
That was exhausting - I honestly didn't feel quite settled for a good two hours after it all ended. Fair play, this England squad (minus this post-Ashes Jimmy Anderson) have a serious set of stones on them.
The Sofa lot are quite good and entertaining. They're both varied and variable - as there's so many of them - but they all know their stuff.

England v Ireland tomorrow (11am onwards).
Ah, before I forget, there's ESPN player - €15 for the tournament or €1.99 for a day pass. I have no idea as to the quality of the service, however.

I suppose it would indeed be churlish to wonder if there might be an inspection of betting patterns in the sub-continent following today's result...
Spot-fixing on number of dropped catches, perhaps...
A quite remarkable innings - straight out of The Eagle or The Rover. Somewhat akin to you or me, well, maybe not me any more, or say Shefki Kuqi coming off the bench in the 85th minute and scoring a cup-winning hat-trick at Wembley. Or a chance meeting with Hurricane Higgins (dec'd, I know) in the boozer and accepting his slurred challenge for a game for a tenner and then scoring a maximum 147 break...

Don´t think I can bear to listen in on England´s next match against SA. I guess it´s win or bye bye, not exactly sure, but surely India will beat Ireland...............

Re: Cricket World Cup 2011 - Telecast
It seems England play to the quality of the opposition - or thereabouts. Wowsers, what an innings that was. Thus, Kallis and ABDV for big scores on Sunday - and I'm simply not going to follow if Smith is heavily involved. I don't think it's win or die - it's all down to the matches against the Windies and Bangladesh (such a shame about the capitulation today).oompah18 wrote:Don´t think I can bear to listen in on England´s next match against SA. Anderson needs a rest/slap - Ashes brilliance or no - Broad needs to stay on the bog and Ravi Bopara needs to be involved - with bat and ball. I'm not sure how that last bit will go, but being dropped after hitting 45 off 15-odd to see England over the line against the Dutch (that was a hairy finale, too) was rough and it's that kind of finishing to an innings that is sorely lacking.
Collingwood is sadly becoming deadwood, so I'd say Anderson and Colly out for Bopara and Shahzad. And then some pretext/loophole to be found to get Morgan back.

Re: Cricket World Cup 2011 - Telecast
Gah! Another Sunday of being put through the wringer then. Fair play, I thought England's goose was well and truly cooked, but they're making this tight...possibly to the point of being infront right now (SA 126-6). Ugh...

Thanks. That works and quality is acceptable. 1.99€ for a game - that's how live sports coverage should be online.Salopian wrote:England v Ireland tomorrow (11am onwards).
