Finnish equivalent "kori", "basket":
which was displaced by "mäyräkoira", "dachshund":
which has been displaced by "salkku"/"keissi", "briefcase"/"case":

The forum claims that Upphew replied to this thread this morning, but I can't see his message. Maybe posting this will make it appear, maybe not.

That happens occasionally on phpBB forums. (Maybe it’s related to those HTTP 500 errors you get occasionally on FF when you’re trying to submit a new post and the server is operating at the limits of its capacity...)

Yup, I did, almost 2 times as the board had some problems... let's see if I can manage to make it third time and something showing (btw, the post didn't appear anywhere, but it showed in topic review, so I could just quote it here)

Sounds like something adventuresome and manly (or perhaps foolhardy and risky) is about to happen. (After writing that, found one possible interpretation in the Urban Dictionary, but I’m not sure if you had that in mind.)
Probably not....this one seems to have a lot of different meanins depending on which part of the English speaking world you are in. In western Canada, it meant "to make haste"...as in: "Let's highball...Time's awastin....We gotta get there by noon...etc."
The term high ball (noun and verb) comes from the days long ago when hand held lanterns were used as signals on trains, that when the brakes had been released and the train was ready to roll, the brakeman would lean out to the side of the train where his signal could be seen by the train's engineer, and he would hold his lantern up high as a "high ball" signal that the train was ready to go.
