i have been crushing my brain for dealing with my stay for few weeks here. i got friend visit visa here. and then try to find a good reason for applying resident permit. any kind of . but heard that working visa is very difficult to get here if i apply in finland. and for student visa. the next application is in next spring. i dont have time wait for that then. i want to study some finish first at here and learn their culture b4 the school. and so the woman in the police station told me i should apply other grounds residence permit. then after have the documents for applying student visa. then i apply student visa. sound good. BUT the i check all the website of immigration. it says. FIRSTresident permit should be in your home country.

will it possible to get residence permit here if my reason is study finish language and culture b4 school?
plzzzz get me back asap.

Yes - never thought about checking them before coming here? It does not cause a categoric rejection if you apply here, but apart from family members of citizens, it makes it harder to get approved.

Possible, yes. It would not violate the Immigration law or laws of physics, so it is 'possible, but I would not think it is likely. I don't think it would have been likely even if you had applied abroad (with those grounds) and applying here is not making easier.

You will not get any Schengen visa that would allow you to stay more than three months in a half year period. I pretty sure you will not also get any visa of any kind to outside Schengen if you try to apply from local embassy here while staying on mere tourist status.
Do you have financial resources to support yourself?

You can try. That is most that can be said.
But do not get your hopes up.

Well, you can try. It will not categorically rejected because you apply here. On the other hand, these "other grounds" cases can't be the strongest ones to begin with and the law says:
Issue of first fixed-term residence permits to
aliens who have entered the country without
residence permits
(1) An alien who has entered the country
without a residence permit is issued with a
temporary or continuous residence permit in
Finland if the requirements for issuing such a
residence permit at a Finnish diplomatic or
consular mission abroad are met, and if:
---
3) refusing a residence permit for an
employed or self-employed person applied
for in Finland would be unfounded from the
alien’s or employer’s point of view;
---
5) refusing a residence permit would be
manifestly unreasonable.
(516/2008)
of which only number 5) would even in theory seem applicable and I am far from convinced they should consider it "manifestly unreasonable" to ask you to go home first.
for the financial support. i have sb to guarantee my expense here. and i have my own bank account saving.
The "guarantee" probably does not have much weight as you would think (there would be no legal obligation for them to actually pay anyway), and are the bank savings actually enough to manage for example for a year...?

i am living in my sis apartment. all my expense , food . accommodation....would be guarantee by her. i will get a guarantee letter from her. hope that will work.
really struggling for this applying. but i think my reason for applying is quiet right and good. done nothing illegal. should be passed?

really frustrating.....
what should i do?

Well you can apply in the country and just see how it goes. Apart from that there is not much else you can do except further stress out. Best thing you can do is just apply now and get it processed as soon as possible.
Make sure you have as much proof as possible for applying for your permit. That you can support yourself, letters of guarantee and everything etc. as well as a good amount of money saved. Work is meant to be 'incidental' rather than the main reason for stay.
The fact that you are already on a visa means that you might not be able to get this new one. On top of that don't expect to find work if that is what you are looking at doing.

i have been stressed for almost for a month. really risky for applying here. but thought my reason for applying it is reasonable and even is a good one. just it is my first time to apply residence permit. which makes it more strict for process. and i will try to get more proof for my finish language studying here. and my financial. hopefully hopefully. can get it. keep my finger cross. i dont have any clue what i am gonna do after back home. that is not what i want . gave up so much for this. not going give up . !!!
more advice for me !!!!! thanks.

Hang on.. so you apply for a residency permit? Not a working visa and then a student visa????
Now I'm as confused as you are
What exactly are you applying for? They are both completely different.
Just make sure you have the right documents and then apply as soon as possible. It's not a nice thing living in the stress. Just apply and don't hold your breath.

Good luck.

There is no visas other than 3month tourist schengen thing in finland, only residence permits in different grounds like temporary residence permit for studies etc.

Now you're confused
She mentioned she wants 'WORKING' Visa.
Then she mentioned 'Student visa'
Then she mentioned 'Residency permit'
Read what she's said.
Which is she applying for and in what order lol?

hey guys.
working/student visa =working /student residence permit. i used "visa" bcz it is short. and thought u will get it.
anyway. i was trying to have good reasons for applying residence permit. ( any kind of residence permit )
but heard that working RP is very difficult to get , so then student visa. to study . study is also my reason to come to europe. so i am trying to get student RP. and it seems easier than working RP. but the next application time is in next spring . but my visa expired soon. so i am thinking to apply other grounds RP. for staying here until the Application time begin. due to it is my first RP applying. it kind of minus my approval chance.
