Hi,

for a list of those English-language schools you could e.g. go to the Opintoluotsi ("study pilot") site

http://www.opintoluotsi.fi/

then click "in English" -> Education in Finland -> see under the upper secondary schools, for example. There are a variety of IB schools in Finland, plus a handful of international schools (especially in the Helsinki area)

You should remember that in order to become a language teacher in Finland it is in most cases essential that your teacher's degree is recognised by the National Board of Education. See their site http://www.oph.fi/info/recognition

Recognition of foreign qualifications in Finland -> Eligibility to work as a teacher -> Teaching in a foreign language

You should go through these hoops as I am not at all sure whether TEFL as such is enough in Finland

The academic requirements of the private English schools - only a few of them, like the Int'l School in Helsinki and the English School (also in Hki) - may have criteria of their own, so the best way is I think to send them your job application directly and ask.

Official education stuff... in case you're desperate for it :)

You would find it easier to get work in a private language school. They usually employ on a freelance basis, prefer native English speakers (some Finnish an advantage but not always) and may ask for experience. There are many small schools - you will find them in every city in Finland by using the Yellow Pages or just googling around (they all have websites).

Here is a short list of private language schools in helsinki area:

AAC Global
Marckwort koulutusyhtiöt
Optimi Training
LinguaBella
Richard Lewis

You can find their contact details from internet.

Good luck!

PS. TEFL is enough

Hoppy, look at the links what sammy posted - you need a pedagogics degree for primary schools, and a pedagogics minor for secondary teaching (to get a "qulified" tenure salary).
Your chances are better in adult education/polytechnics.
