How long to wait Resident Permit?

Think of it this way, your problems are 'nothing' if you get into a different apartment and on a different contract. If you leave from your current residence then you leave, and the problems with that landlord are over. Of course you will have to front the security deposit for the next place. (Hopefully you can get it back right?) as well as any and all moving costs and such, as well as the stress and everything else to do with moving. But at this point it seems like either "the frying pan or the fire" and at least taking a dive in the frying pan and moving isn't going to burn as long as staying in the fire.

I wasn't thinking about Kela, but I still don't understand. Kela after all considers that spouses share their money.

Regardless it was part of what I needed to do, my wife was on a different benefit at the time, I was going on integration. They were 2 different things. I was entitled to a different amount/type of rent subsidy and they required that they had a copy of my rental agreement. I know nothing more than that, it was well over a year ago and I haven't had that since.
But yes this is all besides the point and topic of this thread.

I am heard that have the ocassion wait 1.5years. It's so long and I can not wait like that if I fall down in that case.

What should I do now ? Can I go back to my country and when they call me interview I will come back Finland. It's kill my spirit if just sit at home and wait. I have a lot of things to do. Time is gold, and can not get time back if it goes already. Please kindly help me.

How can you go back home without a passport...? AFAIK if you leave whilst waiting for a decision you void the decision, though I am only quoting out of thin air. You should have known this was part of the deal if you applied here. Hence why it's a better idea to apply in your own country so you aren't burning cash for what could be over a year without being able to do anything. It's good business to make people wait a long time before they get any sort of decision made so they inject money into the economy !

Glad I could at least help a bit. Moving isn't as bad as it sounds, just as long as you check the new place out really well before going. When you have someone's trailer to use and their car or your own it can be a pretty simple 24h thing. Getting used to living in a different area takes a little time but... you know the drill.

For anyone still reading this post/thread I came back with my own answer. If you have been reading the whole thread am sure you are aware of my situation, if not ill sum it up for you. I applied for my residents permit in November 2010 based on family ties. I got denied in May of 2011. I appealed the decision the following month (June) and just a few weeks ago I called Family immigration and she told me I should know something within a months range. Sooo...I will know something towards the beginning of April!! Ill keep you guys that are interested posted about the results and etc!

I am interested in knowing. Its taken over 6 months to get my RP, and they did NOT keep my U.S. passport. - now after reading this about others having theirs kept, this is all news to me.
Why there is so much conflicting information about this process, and too many variables, is probably why we post here. There are no definitive answers, as each of us seems to have had a different experience. Depends on the country you come from; for me coming from America, it was much harder than I thought.....its not like we need to beat down the door to live here, or even want to.....most of it is for love/marriage.

Oh and for me when I was submitting my application back in 2010 they asked me if I wanted to leave my passport with them, and I said yes.Optional I guess??

Hello,

I'm a brazilian, married to a finnish and I applied for the residence permit in March. Since then, my husband has called the Foreign Police in our City twice. The 1st time (in May), they told him it "could take several months and they were still processing January's applications". The 2nd time he called (in July), they didn't even give any answer and told him we'd have to wait.
Well, today he went to the Foreing Police Office to ask why was it taking so long, cause we heard some people got their rps in a month or two. The lady asked our information and checked somethings on her computer. Then she stopped to think for sometime and called the police office and told about our case and they agreed it was taking a long time. Then the office asked if I speak english (wich I had already specified in my application), cause it could take longer if they'd need a translator. After that, FP lady told us they would call us for the interview this weekend if no emergency occures.

So no I'm still sitting, watching Game of Thrones and waiting

PS: When I applied for the RP, they told me they don't keep passports.

I think the "keeping" of passports was due to the rp-sticker in the passport. Now you get a plastic card.
