Hello,
I am currently staying in Helsinki with a girl that I met back in Canada. I have been really enjoying the way of life here and would like to move here. But I am finding it very hard to wrap my brain around being able to get a job because I am on the 3 month tourist visa. I dont feel that the government would give me a residence permit because I like a girl. In canada I work as a Welder so I was looking towards the ship yards but seems difficult not being able to speak finnish yet. I would be willing to work basically anywhere and do anything at this time just so I can stay here and take courses to learn finnish. But i still don't understand how anyone would hire me without me having a visa..?? can someone please give me advice how to jump through this hoop...???
Thanks a lot
No visa no job, no job no visa!???
Re: No visa no job, no job no visa!???
You are talking about the residence permit. Well, It's not really a requirement to get a job. If you are really well qualified person, you can get the job and apply for the residence permit based on that. But, how's the job situation, that's another story.
If the girl is Finnish, you can apply for family based residence permit if you have been living together for 2 years, or if you get married.

Yes well if she wants to move to Canada guess what she needs...
Either you
a) get married and apply for a "family" RP - you can do it if you can show 2 years of "common-law" living together
b) find some place they have a desperate need for welders and are willing to file the necessary paperwork and wait the months it takes for you to get a decision
c) the answer is canada

There should have been 'OR' between these two sentencesyou can do it if you can show 2 years of "common-law" living together
(of course two years living together would require that one would be allowed to stay together that long by the immigration laws of some country)
