Chef jobs in Vasa

Post by xixu13 » Sun Sep 16, 2012 8:20 pm

I will be in Vasa next week and will be looking for a job in the kitchen. I am Maltese and 22 years old. I have 5 years of experience working mainly in a 5 star hotel in Malta. Does anyone know of any vacancy? I need some help please. Thank you

See here. It’s a list of open chef/cook vacancies in Vaasa region. (The list appears near the end of the page.)

One of the necessary prerequisites for such a job is a food hygiene proficiency certificate, aka “Hygiene Passport”, from the Finnish Food Safety Authority, Evira.

Thank you for your help. Do you think it's hard for me to find a job in the kitchen in vasa?? I am a little bit scared of what I will find. Is it a big problem me not knowing the language?

I have no idea. But one of the open vacancies was listed by Simnar Oy, aka Tom Yum Thai Restaurant. As it’s an ethnic restaurant, maybe they don’t require Finnish from their chefs. Then again, I guess you’d need to be familiar with Thai kitchen...

Just for fun, check out Anthony Bourdain’s (rather exotic) visit to Finland:
