Aalto University Applicants - 2013
Aalto University Applicants - 2013
We're everywhere!!!
I am curious if anyone in here applied for master's programmes at Aalto University School of Business. I have applied for master's in finance and am kind of confused on where I stand in the application process. Normally, applicants are ranked by GMAT score only and double the amount of candidates that can be accepted to the programme are invited for an interview. So far, there is no indication that I am out of running, either by email or on the application portal, but given that the final results are due in a month, I believe that I must be out.
Has anyone had a similar experience?

Logically, they send the "thanks for applying" letter after they actually know the final averages of people actually let in...So far, there is no indication that I am out of running

Per their website, there are two separate phases in the application process for this particulate programme. In the phase I, they rank applicants according to their GMAT scores and call the top 14-15 applicants for interview. The second phase is the interview and you get a score for that (GMAT score + interview performance). If you didn't the make the short list at the end of phase I, you are absolutely out and I think it would be reasonable if they let people know this at that point.

So that you don't get a bad feeling and start to cry?

Exactly. Or If they just told me that I didn't get in, I would move on and concentrate on my ukulele classes.

I don't know much about master's programmes but last semester I applied to a doctoral programme in Aalto and received my invitation letter by post. No e-mail or online announcement beforehand. I'm an international applicant and I was definitely not expecting anything via post.
So I'm sure they'll inform you somehow. I've received good news long after I gave up hope.

Thanks. That's quite interesting. Perhaps I should email them and ask about it. My mailing address is my old work address ( ), though the people there do notify me whenever I get delivered something, regular post is certainly is not the most secure way to contact me at the moment.numb wrote:I don't know much about master's programmes but last semester I applied to a doctoral programme in Aalto and received my invitation letter by post. Was your letter an acceptance or an invitation for an interview?

Yes I think there is nothing wrong with sending a follow up mail.
There was no interview stage in my department, I received an acceptance letter directly.

Sent them an email about it and received a reply that made me feel like they didn't even read it.
Got in U of H, btw

I applied to the MA for the Design Program and still didn't hear back from him. I reached out to my friend who got admitted two years ago and she mentioned she received the package through mail around April 7. Hmm...I called the school, but they said that the final result will be posted online on April 26.

Congrat! Is UofH the same as Aalto University? Besides the mailing package, did you also received an email? Thank you.

I didn't receive an e-mail, I've reached out to them after receiving the post. Different programs probably have different procedures. If they said april 26 then it should be april 26.

Hi. I see that you are a doctoral student at Aalto. I am an incoming student. Wonder if you could answer a few questions?
