Maternity pay issue - any advice?

Post by Geetargirl » Wed Mar 27, 2013 6:25 pm

Hi there

My partner is Finnish and pregnant - she has worked full time and paid tax on all her earnings for over 10 years in Finland but due to the varying nature of her work and how it is funded she falls into an unfortunate gap in the state maternity pay system - which means they are telling her she can only claim 50% of what she is rightfully entitled to.

Where I am from there are advice organisations who can help individuals claim the benefits they are entitled to when they have a legitimate problem like this one - can anyone recommend where we can seek advice on this?

Thanks x

This is what she apparently thinks, while KELA thinks otherwise. Do you have any actual grounds to think the law is not being applied correctly - the law as it is, not the law you think should be? All the KELA decisions can be appealed, but can you base the appeal on the law?
