You could probably get some netflix type of thing sorted...even with subtitles. You can get MTV3 news and some YLE stuff free globally as well.

Your wife might want to try out TVkaista. It’s a subscription-based service where you can watch Finnish TV locally or from abroad, live or time-shifted.

Just note that the authorities have been investigating this service as potentially infringing the copyright law (the TV companies are not exactly pleased about them!) and charges have been filed against them... but the judicial process is slow. Nonetheless, you could probably use them while they last — as a simple straightforward solution to the problem — and postpone thinking about the alternatives for later... but it’s maybe better subscribe to the service for shorter periods rather than longer, just in case.

Thanks, I'm going back to Italy next week, this time with the wife, we'll test it out then and report back. :D
