Hello guys, at the moment i'm in a dilema, by summer I would go to make volunteer activities in a institution in Oulu city. They said that they will provide a place to stay with internet access, a workspace and only launch during monday-friday and 70 euro's per week. I don't think so, but are that 70 euros per week enough for breakfast and dinner everyday and launch during weekend? From what I know Finland is quiet high in costs. Thanks.
My eating habbit is that I don't eat much even in my native country.

Re: Cost of food
It depends if the lunch is a cooked meal (my guess is that it will be). If so, then yes, you can live on a 70e/week spend in the supermarket.
Political correctness is the belief that it's possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

Are there enough Lidl stores?
?

Re: Cost of food
Yes, you "can" live with 70 euros/week for the expenses you mention, but this doesn't mean it's going to be comfortable. Here are some other factors to consider:
Will you be able to cook your own food, say on weekends?
What about other personal expenses? Because maybe you should forget them.
On a positive side, I don't know the cost of living in Oulu, compared to Helsinki where I am, so maybe it's going to be somewhat easier for you.
Since this is volunteering and you are not expected to 'earn' money, it is up to you to make a decision of living uncomfortably (or paying from your own wallet) as part of the deal.

Well, the maximum no. of weeks of stay is 8. I can go earlier home. Even home I don't usually drink lots of beverages or smoke. They will serve the dinner at theire canteen during working days, monday-friday, this is what I know. I have free public transportation.
How much is the transportation from Helsinki to Oulu? From what I understand from them this is not free.

You can get a return flight for about 100€ if you book early enough. Airlines Finnair, SAS and Norwegian.Alexsama wrote: How much is the transportation from Helsinki to Oulu? From what I understand from them this is not free.
