Why do you write such complete nonsense?

Residence in Finland alone does not entitle you to any benefits from Kela.

As a random example, as a pensioner with EU citizenship you have the right to spend your retirement in Finland.
But when you move as a pensioner from another EU country to Finland, then your health care costs in Finland are always paid for by the country that pays you a pension - even if you live for 50 years in Finland.

Or ask non-EU citizens who got a Residence Permit for a 1 year work contract in Finland - they are not covered by Kela.

Or if you reside in Finland but work in Estonia, then you will not be covered by Kela - you will be covered by the Estonian social security system.

If the OP would marry his gf, then she could register her Right of Residence as family member and would therefore immediately receive health care coverage and unemployment payments from Kela. But when she comes based on "sufficient means of support" she is not covered by Kela.

Funny how that's exactly what has happened in many cases of my friends here.

I like how you keep avoiding the main parts/questions of my posts directed at you but go all out on the insignificant things

What exactly has happened?

Please provide details on what citizenships your friends had, on what legal basis they resided in Finland, and on what basis Kela covered them.

(E.g. if your friends were from Norway it would be clear that they could just come to Finland and immediately receive full Kela coverage, but that wouldn't be on the basis of "sufficient means of support".)

Thanks for the replies everyone. We'll probably ask the local Police station when we go over for the interview.

Random question; do Finnish people not use bath tubs? =z Looking at apartments and I've not seen one. Haha.

Not really. While fun, I practically lived in one when I had the chance, they use a lot of water. Jacuzzi is what you can find in new places, but basic tub... almost extinct.

Am I right in thinking that in order to put on the three year integration plan; my girlfriend would need to register her right of residence or does that only happen if your coming with family ties?

That only happens when she registers her Right of Residence based on family ties.

When she registers her Right of Residence based on sufficient means of support she has no right to receive Finnish unemployment benefits.

Thought so.

Thanks for confirming.

Co habilitation for two years counts towards family ties yes? We've been living together one year at present; if she gets a right of residence permit and lives with me for a further year in Finland could we re-apply under family ties and then receive the integration plan?

LOL Wow.. the amount of drivel you come out with is unbelievable

I registered my right of residence based on a job, a !"#¤% 4 hour a week job delivering adverts. As soon as I got that, I went straight to te-toimisto and asked about learning Finnish. They put me on a 3 year integration plan there and then, and I started the first language course 3 weeks later.

Same thing applies to my friend who moved here (on the same day as me, coincidentally) and got his right of residence based on the money his parents put into his bank account.

I'll ask you for a 3rd time, have you actually been through any of this, because your answers in this thread certainly point to 'no'.

Theres an inconsistency in the meaning if intergration plan.
I could be that some get finnish lessons and thats all , while other get more, like being eligible for extra handouts.
I dont even want to study that info online, intergrate into what ? , a pig farm!

That sounds promising :). I assume that was just the language course and not the other benefits that can come with the three year plan (X amount of Euros per month)?

We've been living together for just over a year which obviously doesn't hit the two years needed for cohabitation.

Howdy :)

So I've been offered the job! :). However; I need to check some things before I progress any further. I'm going to try and find the local police station tomorrow and ask about residency; but quickly - does anyone know if my girlfriend would be covered for local health care? Could she use the doctors and get prescriptions like anyone else?

Thanks in advance.
