99577 or other cheap ways to call mobiles in UK

Post by Haatchi » Mon Jun 24, 2013 11:44 am

I have a close relative who has a congenital illness and it receiving longer treatment at a facility in the UK. I cannot call him as much as I like as my current mobile network (bog standard Saunalahti prepaid) charges about 0.75 euro/min and a 3 min hurried shout call often means no milk for the week, an additional call means going without breakfast (I'm self employed and not much work right now as people on hols and after expenses I have just about enough left for food). The relative has no money himself and his father, sick themselves and unable to work cannot afford to pay for phone calls. They do not have a fixed line and the line in the treatment place is not open for public calling. Skype is also a non option.

My boyfriend who is Tibetan and frequently calls family members back home has shown me the 99577 network (he pays about 5 or 8 cents a min for calling home) but it does not work on Saunalahti prepaid. My bf has also given me a spare old phone and I'm looking for a prepaid network (have no credit status and don't use credit for moral reasons) which works with 99577 or any other way to cut the costs, the relative , a primary school age child, would be so happy. I have been to DNA Kauppa and their prepaid network has a code 99555 and the rate for fixed line UK is 5 cents /min for mobiles 38 cents /min which is still too expensive. The salesguy wasn't sure if it worked with 99577 and it would be a pain to buy it and it turns out to be useless.

Anyone who has experience with this and can help, really much appreciated.
