Yeah, but... despite UK being a land of milk & honey and a lot of casual work available and nobody really giving a rats ass if you work over 3 months in one place, a WH in Finland is a tough nut. There isn't as much casual work "where you want it" and it is that one year - switching to another RP is... not "undoable" - but if you are married to a Finn, tell me one reason, as in "a good one" why would you apply for a WH visa??? I mean you "can" do a lot of things as in jump off a bridge, but what would be the point? For a regular work RP you need that work, and we're back to the original catch-22.

In the discussion with cors187 I was just telling him that this guy didn't need any skills at all for getting a visa that allowed him to work in the UK. And cors187 suggestion he might apply for a normal work residence permit in Finland is therefore likely nonsense.

I don't get the idea of talking about employment based permit here. It's no better, probably worse than permit for a spouse regarding conditions and assuming some backstory the familymember permit is pretty much guaranteed. If there are any problems related to the planned stay in Australia I fail to see how an employment based permit would be superior in that respect either.

OK, so Adrian I didn't note the counterpoint with cors there. As someone has said, you need ALL THE PAPERS for bureaucracy and ALL THE INFO if you don't want people to make statistical assumptions.
Any permit, family or work is "hard" the first two applications. Except a student RP which is hard for the duration of studies.

Then again, Finland isn't exceptionally anal in this respect. If you look at the paradise of Sweden and read the whines and rants on the local about getting registered etc. nevermind trying to get a spouse permit to Denmark... yeah, nothing much to worry about in Finland, even the times aren't that bad. Always space for improvement, but in any country it is the same. The drones want the right papers, in the right order, in the right office.... Confusing the drones is always a bad idea - not confusing the drones, and giving them what they want, and not thinking but knowing... makes the grumpy bureaucrats sing sweet hosianna and you might get what you need to accomplish what you want... instead of ending up with a sore orifice.

Well to tie in my posts to what i am suggesting.
Yeah i know its a long shot about employment , but going through and waiting the time for the spouse RP , and then your still throwing your money on the long shot after waiting.
I understand the guy worked in the UK, so i did put 2 +2 together and gave the suggestion of betting on the Long shot.Theres worse bets an immigrant can make.

One of them is, yay i kick back do some Finnish classes , get to know that strangers are indeed strangers , find the cold shoulder , of crap , im leaving.
If the guy was a random RP poster i would not have suggested it, but the UK info was enough for me to place the bet?

To me the whole point is not to stay in Finland , but to be successful in Finland , the guys from a better country and to be honest if an Aussie is staying here and not doing any good then im gonna tell him to go home .Finland broke you so go home.

But he has to try and we all know the sharp end of the stick comes when your on the move looking for work to make a home for yourself.
I figured its better to find out how sharp that stick is first ( in this guys case), because of the UK work ( which has no posted details)

Adrian , you cant say nonsense to my posts.

UPDATE- 6 Months later...

So it only took 1 and a half months for my residence permit to come after getting married.
I have been offered jobs but decided to get the integration benefits ja nyt, minä puhun vähän suomea.
Thanks for all the haters, doubters and nationalists, you really made me strive a lot harder for this.
I guess I'm good at bureaucratic documentation.
Peace.

No one is a hater. They are only telling you how it is. The facts. No one is hating on you.

You were 'offered' jobs and you didn't take what you were offered? Are you insane? In this economy???

You could have easily taken one of the jobs and then gone to evening courses to learn Finnish. Or morning classes and working in the evenings. You'd be earning much more money this way AND have a job. The integration money is peanuts.

I hope those same people 'offer' you a job after the course is finished, because the economy is just getting worse and worse. People being laid off left and right.

And if your intentions were to p*ss off back to Australia for a year, why'd you start the integration course? Is it not 10 months to 3 years long? This I am just curious about.

Good luck and welcome to Finland!!! :)

See there is a lot of jobs, most if not all of those jobs are living here as an economical prisoner.
I though it was common knowledge that integration benefits was for poor people.

Sorry matey but striving for the integration course?.Wait till you get to know your class mates.

and I'm bit baffled about this "nationalist" word also. By a quick look there where more foreigners (or at least not native born) than Finnish posters on this thread, at least two (other) Australians.
