The bigger problem is that these idiots don't really have critical thinking power. If they come up with *anything* of that sort, trust me, people will take it ONLY for a while. All the retailers, Stockmann included, will suffer. I, for one, will lead by buying everything over the Internet. Daily groceries... well, there the Siwa.

Helsinki city center? Perhaps a haunt for the Friday evening, short jaunts to the nightclubs before even they retire to the outskirts. If that can happen with the movie halls (yep, Finnkino used to be the only decent a decade ago), and now in Jumbo and Sello!), it can happen with other cities too. It might take a while, but that's what brainless thinking gets you. The current retailers will suffer, and then the real-estate will suffer (excess supply of shop spaces), and then other businesses.

Complete idiots, and I've seen this before. Of course, Espoo and Vantaa etc. will definitely support the move.

Finally, I've seen the current PM and the sloppy Urpiwhatever, they seem to be talking without reflecting at all. A few moments of silence is considered golden in Finnish conversation, somebody should tell these idiots that.

You just need to look at USA inner cities and what happened to them. Sometimes I kinda hope Finland had gotten some windfall in the 1920's and gone ahead with those megapolis plans...
