What will you describe this in Finnish ?

Post by sephiroth2407 » Thu Jan 09, 2014 2:42 am

Hi everyone, I am looking for a vending cart/trolley like this one, but I dont know how to describe it in Finnish, in order to properly search for it on internet. I tried Google translate but the result is disappointing. May you help me with it ? (If you also know where could I look for one, it would be very grateful  ) thank you. :o

I’d call it katukeittiö (lit. “street kitchen”), or katukeittiövaunu (“a street kitchen trolley/wagon”). The military version is commonly called soppatykki (lit. “soup cannon”), or officially kenttäkeittiö (“field kitchen”).

I wonder how “street legal” they are in Finland, though... or what hoops you may have to jump through to appease the Food Safety Authority and their hygiene regulations.

I would say "nakkikärryt" or "hodarikärryt", seen those in Helsinki area. Or "hodarivaunut"...
