Birth Control Cost

Post by aic18 » Thu Jan 23, 2014 7:27 am

I've seen some Finnish prices and most forms of contraception are quite expensive in Finland :o How much does the birth control pill cost and how many are given in 'one' prescription? Also can I speak in English to the doctor or can I take someone with me to translate? Still learning Finnish haha :D Thanks!

Yes they are!! Best to get them from another country :P
You should get a prescription for a whole year.
I'd say doctors will speak English.

Darn :( I think it would probably be more expensive going to another country specifically though...
Can anyone with experience in this situation tell me an approximate price? Thanks :D

I think my wife pays €40 for 3 months... That's MUCH cheaper than the alternative.

I just went to see a doc for this, this week. It costs 39.77 euro for three months and got prescription for 15months.

It's illegal to send medicine in the mail to and out of Finland. At least Finland Post doesn't allow it.

I've seen it taken.

So if someone sends you some and Tulli (Customs) catches you, you're in !"#¤%.

Why not? Can't you bring medicine in for personal use up to a specific time period by yourself? I haven't received medicine in post, and in general I would avoid it, but I know someone who did it once. Because the medicine he could buy off-the-counter in Finland (painkillers, etc.) were just useless and pitiful.

Technically you can't. And if the customs see medicines in your package, they will call you and let you explain what it is but still confiscate it anyway.

Best kind of contraception is withdrawal - free and readily available!

It seems to be ok to receive it from within the EU. Which country are you from, aic18?
