Mails between EU countries?

Post by Samer2010 » Mon Jan 27, 2014 10:44 am

Hi Forum,

I need to legalize some documents, and the only place to do that is in my country's embassy in France (No embassy nor consul representative in Finland).

I have all the papers ready, However, My country's embassy requested that I must send them a stamped envelope which has my address in Finland written on it, So that once my documents are certified/legalized are ready, they will just put them inside that envelope and send it back to me.

My problem is, How an envelope with Finnish postage stamps will be mailed from a different country (France) to Finland?

In other words, If I go to the Finnish post office > Get an envelope > Stick some Finnish postage stamps on it > Write my Finnish address on it > Send it along with my other document to the embassy in France.

BUT, in France when the embassy try to send the envelope back to me, the French mailman will look at the envelope with the Finnish postage stamps... Will he sends it or throw it away?

Do you understand my concern? are the Finnish postage stamps approved in France or in any EU country? How these things really work?

Another example is: Here in Finland If I tried to send an envelope that has some Estonian/French/Spanish postage stamps, Will it be mailed normally? or just thrown in the garbage bin?

Thanks !

It is doubtful you could use Finnish stamps for that. How about buying (or printing) French postage stamps online?

Yes, ask them to send you some French stamps first

They are called international coupons. You can buy them from post offices. Just check how many coupons you should include. They cost something like 3-4 euros/coupon. You don't put them on the envelope, you just send them with your docs.

I have used them once, but the authority in the other country told me exactly how many coupons I should include to enable them to send my docs back.
