good news for those with analogue TV's, YLE is starting to broadcast their HDTV channels in analogue. Now spare TV's can be dusted off and put to some good use again.

And the national broadcaster doesn't know the difference between analogue and digital or analogue and terrestrial?

the problem is not if the receiver in your old TV is analog or digital, the problem is whether TV is able to show in HD resolution. thus if the tv has an analog receiver and is not HD compatible the picture will not be any better.

if your tv has an analogue tuner then you don't see any picture at all in finland. analogue tv was switched off years ago, HD or SD, there is no analogue tv here. YLE seem to think otherwise (and you would think they would know, being the national broadcaster).

If you go and check the article in Finnish http://yle.fi/uutiset/ylen_kanavat_perj ... sa/7073546 , you'll notice they meant antennae, not analogue.
