Hey! I have a question related to medicines.
My fiance is coming to Finland soon. Shes from US and she needs take her medicines along for her personal use. It seems her medicines classified as a narcotics or something like that (benzodiazepines) in Finland. The problem is that shes allowed to bring them only for 14 days and she needs them a few times daily. Shes moving here and our plan is get married in Finland almost right away and then fill the first RP application and wait for it. I`ve heard the time of dealing with the RP applications vary from 2weeks to few month, so thatd mean she could run out of the medicine during we are waiting for the answer to our application.
She has an american prescription for the medicine, but if I understood correctly they dont allow prescriptions from US in the finnish pharmacy.. So what are the options? Should she book an appointment with a private doctor, like from Mehiläinen? And explain her situation and show her prescription? Could the doctor give her a new finnish prescription for the same medicine? Or is it complex to get that kind of medicines, even if you have proofs and prescription from another country and urgent situation= (ran out of the medicine) ?
Please answer me, if you know something about this kind of situation or if you know about some place where to ask the same. This is very important! Thank you very much!

Re: Question about medicines and prescriptions
Well even if she goes to a private doctor, there is no guarantee that this doctor can give her the same medicines as she is on currently (=potential problems adapting to new medication) or that he/she agrees that she should get it even if it´s available. Also, getting some medication might mean first going through a complicated process of specialists first.
Money is the least of her worries.
Edit: check KELA´s pages to see if something similar to her medication is being sold in Finland:
