Hello,
Could anyone please provide me with accurate info about the Vaccine Schedule here in Finland for babies from birth?
The only source I found is (http://vaccine-schedule.ecdc.europa.eu/ ... duler.aspx), But is there any local/Finnish source about this matter?
If found this: (http://www.thl.fi/fi_FI/web/fi/aiheet/rokottaminen), But unfortunately it is only in Finnish.
I am extremely concerned because we do travel quite a lot and I checked the vaccines that are given to babies in my countries and other countries are WAY MORE than what is given here in Finland. What should I do ?
Thanks !

Hi!
Here's a handbook on available vaccinations in Finnish national vaccination program for children.
http://www.thl.fi/fi_FI/web/rokottajank ... -ja-nuoret
The page is in Finnish, but when you paste the URL on Google Translate, you can get a pretty good idea of the contents in English.
Hope this helps.

The standard vaccine package is always going to be something that is based on what a kid in that country is likely to need. No point in vaccinating a child very young against a disease that only exists in another part of the world.
If you travel a lot with the child, you need to discuss with a doctor about getting additional vaccines, that's all. Most vaccines will be available, but you have to convince the doctor that anything in addition to the standard vaccine package is needed.
Also consider that some vaccines may not work that well on a very young child but might still be given if the risk of disease is very high in the country of residence. It might not be worth it to get that vaccine just for a short trip back home. Again, something to discuss with a doctor.
Call your local health care center and ask for info.

Re: Newborn: Vaccines - Recommendations ?
Tuberculosis vaccination was presumably offered (and accepted) already at the maternity hospital. I guess one can get more or less any (age appropriate) additional shot on a private clinic. Cost may influence some decisions, but the other reason why some vaccinations are not part of the national program is that if the chance of getting infected is small enough the side effects of the vaccination may outweigh the benefits. The evaluation is made considering the average population, but traveling in urban environment does not necessarily affect the balance heavily - but it depends on individual circumstances.Keravalainen wrote:Hi!
