So, how does it look like for my boyfriend? And what happens if he gets denied recidency, will he get "thrown" out or face any other legal consequences? I cannot stress how much I'm worrying about this particular issue, since we both just want to continue on living and building a future together.
Anyway,I'd be glad to hear of any similiar experience you might have had and how you handled them. Or any advice is also very welcome!
Thank you!
Love is the greatest gift.

Why would you count the trees if you can go fishing?

They told me I could go to another country and come back and that would reset the 3-month counter. Ahahaha! So they have an ill-designed law and then in the situations where it doesn't work they try to arrange ways to go around it.
You can always get married :P
You lost me with the ill-designed law, and the work around. Tourist visum is 3 months in pretty much all the countries I have traveled to, and lived in. And is the usual work around for a missing residency permit since.... WWII the latest. But I agree, that bureaucracy is somewhat steep here. I am sorry, contract is only possible with henkilötunnus... *pantpant* here it is. I am sorry contract is only possible with henkilötunnus AND finnish ID card... "pantpant* Ah thanks. With finnish ID card WITH foto... *pantpantpant* - But hey, we are guests here, in my opinion, at least. The tools one can use to help integration are not shabby indeed. Thank you Finnish Taxpayers! In my book at least.

Well like in the UK its all easy, you need a water or gas bill to prove your address and a land line phone number is mandatory on the web forms

And you need the famous UK social security number to get those? I do not know, just heard many hilarious tales about that number.

Just know that several times I was in the situation that I needed the henkilötunnus to get the contract, and the contract to get the henkilötunnus. Also, web forms here, that I would need, ask for a bank identifier, which needs internet banking (to my limited knowing), which I will get... sometime... maybe... Not saying it is steeper here, than anywhere else. Administrative systems of any kind grow over a long time, and new situations are always a challenge. For the system and the person who creates the new-ish situation. Maybe someday I find out how I COULD have sent the form for registration of EU national on the internet without said bank identifier. I obviously am not smart enough for that. Good old being there in the morning, getting my number for the line worked though. Better create old, and known situations for administrative systems, maybe ;)
