Help getting divorce papers

Post by luza » Sat Jun 21, 2014 3:10 pm

Hi.
I left Helsinki in November 2012.
My ex-husband asked for divorce in May 2013.
I do not know to which court in Helsinki he submitted the papers.
And I need a divorce certificate in English.
We are not communicating.
Does somebody know how do I get my divorce papers?
How can I know to which court the papers where submitted?
I am at the moment in London but soon I will return to my home country out of Europe.
Thank you for helping

Is your address known so the court could send you them? Are you sure you are divorced?

I mean the address you live and where the court could send you their papers.

I just asked my husband about the divorce and it appears that I am not divorced!
He is telling me that I must sign a paper to submmit to the court the divorce request.
I understood that in Finland one can submmit a divorce request and there is no need for both partners to submit those papers simustaneously.
Am I right?
He is Finnish.

Situation was as I thought it to be as he tries to do things as hard for you as he can.
"one or both of the spouses asks to be granted a divorce."

Thank you for the info: http://www.infopankki.fi/en/living-in-f ... ly/divorce

If I understand well, If I request now a divorce to the court in Helsinki, then I will have to wait at least 6 monthsmore for it to be granted?
Then it would be better to wait until October 2014, when it will 2 years since we have lived in different places, and the divorce will be granted with not waiting time....
Thanks

If your husband never actually submitted the papers, then yes, that is true.

That would seem to be the case (never done that)
