Visa extention, Having Fine
Visa extention, Having Fine
Guyes,
I did something idiotic about shoplifting and police considered fine for me (50€). I am student in Finland and I am going to extend my Visa.
I dont know does this matter any effect on my Visa extention?
if any body has some information please let me know and give me some advise how to explain this matter for officer?
Thanks

Download the application you need for your res/permit and look at the questions.

Re: Visa extention, Having Fine
When are you going to apply for extension? Have you paid the fine?
Re: Visa extention, Having Fine
If it's your first offense, and you've paid your fine, then I don't see why it should be held against you.
After all, the Russian/African gang members in Karjala and East Helsinki commit even more serious crimes and they never lose their permanent residence permits

Every case is unique. You can't measure the result of your application based on arbitrary anecdotes online.

Yes I have paid the fine. But I really worry about that.gloriaross wrote:When are you going to apply for extension? Have you paid the fine?
Re: Visa extention, Having Fine
I'm sure there is much lower threshold to let a student permit expire than remove one of our honored guests from Somalia. I'd guess if everything else is OK, the residence permit is likely renewed. Sure, OP was incredibly stupid. Luckily for him, the Aliens act and its interpretation is so lenient here.adnan wrote: After all, the Russian/African gang members in Karjala and East Helsinki commit even more serious crimes and they never lose their permanent residence permits

Ahh.. don't get me started on that. One of the things I hate about Finland is some of its stupid politicians. They sniff racism in things like deporting repeated offenders, which is completely idiotic. I mean, if you have a guest who keeps !"#¤% in your kitchen, what would you do?Rip wrote:I'm sure there is much lower threshold to let a student permit expire than remove one of our honored guests from Somalia. Kicking out immigrant repeated offenders and giving harsher sentences for things like rape isn't racism.. it's justice.

Police probably didnt come in his door, guards caught him and handed him to police who fined him.memon421 wrote:I am also a student. Can you please tell me more what ancient. What was the act and how police came to your door / fined you?

Re: Visa extention, Having Fine
Why would some ask such questions about the incident? Makes me suspicious they did something or do shoplifting.... So they know what they can get away with LOL.
Re: Visa extention, Having Fine
They ask because it can have huge effect on their application. I dont see any reason to lie under anonymity and knowing that what they did isnt nice and lying wont help.Flossy1978 wrote:Why would some ask such questions about the incident? Re: Visa extention, Having Fine
I think you have already had your punishment in form of fine. and you have paid it so its quite simple. There is no point to punish you again with visa rejection. there are so many people doing these offenses if they all get rejected for these petty crimes then Finland would be empty. This would be consider as petty crime like traffic signal ticket or travelling without ticket. If you do it again the fine would be double next time. You had a fine and you paid it and its done now.
Main thing is that you should not lie in your application. your truth could be appreciated. if it comes under criminal offense they ask in application then you should say yes. and if its just your first offense and you were not put in jail then it comes under minor offense. Just tell them that you will not repeat this mistake ever again and make this promise to yourself too.
There is nothing to worry about just dare to speak truth.
Good luck

It is not punishment, countries just are choosy what kind of people they allow to visit (visa is for visiting, residence permit is for residing).gloriaross wrote:I think you have already had your punishment in form of fine. and you have paid it so its quite simple.
