cohabitation visa and internship in Amsterdam
cohabitation visa and internship in Amsterdam
hello!
I have been in Finland for 4 years now as a MA student. Now I graduated and got an extension visa for seeking job until end of January 2015. ( for 6 months)
And I have been living with my Finnish boyfriend for 3 years.
Then, I have got recently an offer from Amsterdam company for internship for 6 months. As I am a non-EU citizen I don't know If i can get a visa for 6 months.
(It's paid internship but little so it is not normal working visa available.) But I can stay in Amsterdam for 3 months without any problems.
And the company also agreed on 3 months work and open the possibility for 3months more.
If I work there for 3 months, I will still have one month of time having visa in Finland.
If I can get a visa for 6months in Netherlands for internship, my visa will be expired in Finland.
But I want to come back to Finland.
So that I am thinking to apply for cohabitation visa.
Yes, I know I should have applied cohabitation visa already instead of 6months extension, I didn't know that well about this that time.
I wonder should I apply before I go or after 3months of internship ( when my visa is about to expired) ???
I do have rent contract for 3 years, but I wonder If I have internship in Netherlands for 3months affects this cohabitation visa??
Because we will be in different places for 3 months.

Everyone knows that visa is for visiting and residence permit for residing? 90 days in 180 days rule is plastered pretty much everywhere: "Generally, a short-stay visa issued by one of the Schengen States entitles its holder to travel throughout the 26 Schengen States for up to 90 days in any 180-day period. Visas for visits exceeding that period remain subject to national procedures. "tummansininen wrote:I like that it's a thingy. It's important to be clear exactly what visa, residency, permit or thingy you actually have. Not refer to everything as a visa. Or else you'll get inaccurate info in the replies.
Not.

oops yes....the thingy = visa = residence permit.
It is true, maybe after 3months, my boyfriend doesn't want to live with me or I want to go back to my country. Never know...
Just my wondering was When I come back from 3 months internship, if still me and my boyfriend want to live longer in Finland and if I still want to find job here for
life, does the separation for 3 months (not being together) matters on 2years of cohabitation proof??

You can GO to Netherlands for 3 months, you can not WORK in Netherlands! The RP is for Finland, the Schengen is tourism only.

If you move over as "EU free movement" and get a non-EU family car thats one option, but that means both need to go. Then again Finland has had some sort of "trainee" visas before, so I'd hazard the netherlands might as well - it doesn't hurt to ask.

If you can work something out with your employer in the Netherlands and somehow make the contract for one year, and if you're a highly skilled person in some rare amazing field, then you miiiight be eligible for something called Blue Card, which allows you to work anywhere in EEA.
Every case is unique. You can't measure the result of your application based on arbitrary anecdotes online.

Its hard to pull that out your backside for a employee who just doesnt make you money.gross minimum salary of EUR 4,809 per month.

What about this.
I have toiminimi. Last summer I had a project with a company from Switzerland. I offered my competence then issued invoice for the project and got money.
What if the company pays for my company?
Then I could pay tax, and the netherlands company would have trouble having internship.
Would it be trouble still?

Possible but will not allow you to stay in the Netherlands for longer over 3 months. The Dutch tax authority will also have issue if the majority of the work happens in the Netherlands (I know the Finnish one would if the countries were reversed).goon wrote:What about this.

Could you be more specific? Is it your assumption? Could you tell me more if you know the criteria?betelgeuse wrote: The Dutch tax authority will also have issue if the majority of the work happens in the Netherlands (I know the Finnish one would if the countries were reversed).

ummm ok...
I think the company (in Amsterdam) has no idea about having intern who graduated and non-EU citizen...... and It was same for me.
Before I asked about RP in this Forum, I visited Netherland's embassy to ask. The lady in embassy didn't give any clear answer but just showed the website of IND office (Immigration office) which I checked before I went to embassy.
The company was willing to help me to go. They said that they called to IND office then said to me that I should book a time for application.
They understood my situation and even agreed on that I may work only for 3 months. And helped for finding room, too.
Of course, they probably did for their own sake though.
If either of embassy or IND office answered 'NO' in first place, we wouldn't have waisted time like this.
I still don't understand.... Who supposed to know better than them ???
I feel sorry for the company...If they choose just one of EU applicants they wouldn't have any trouble.
And sorry for me, too. I thought it would be better doing internship than jobless for finding job in Finland.
Thanks for all your replies and sorry for complains.

You do have an interesting case there, but you are true, if you were still enrolled in school, the rules would be different. Theres all those rules, but you need to "fit in a category", if you don't fit in the box it doesn't get delivered...
Oh, and they can only say "NO" after you've applied. You can apply a moon from the sky, but they may not say its silly and wasting time. Blame the lawyers
