Last march I paid fine to the customs for importing some bodybuilding supplements which were apparently illegal here (although legal to use but illegal to import ). It was a petty doping offence and i got a fine. I want to know if is this a recordable criminal offence which i have to mention whenever everytime i apply for a visa for else where . Are these records ever deleted( not from criminal database but for criminal clearance certificates from the police). Please help
in short : for how long do i have to disclose this crime??

When applying for a visa it's possible to get an extract from the crime register:Mr G. wrote:Last march I paid fine to the customs for importing some bodybuilding supplements which were apparently illegal here (although legal to use but illegal to import ). The records eventually clear. However, this does not mean you could stop mentioning it. The target country might have the question worded so that they require mentioning it even if it has expired from the register in Finland. I do not know whether you got an entry for the offense mentioned.

And if you dont "mention" it? Its not in criminal register and only SUPO or similar will see it. No one knows.betelgeuse wrote:When applying for a visa it's possible to get an extract from the crime register:Mr G. wrote:Last march I paid fine to the customs for importing some bodybuilding supplements which were apparently illegal here (although legal to use but illegal to import ). I can clearly and withouth doubt say "no criminal record" and i do have "suspended sentence" from past, no matter how they word it.

They probably wouldn't if you are applying for the first time and the target country has no information exchange treaties with countries that have you divulged the information to. However, if you are applying for a second time in a place like USA, you can be sure they have kept records of your previous applications.onkko wrote: And if you dont "mention" it? Well of course if you are so stupid as to tick the box and say yes in the first place, while you flap your communist party membership card..
I don't remember where they ask "have you ever been suspected of a crime" and so forth.... Well yes, of course, several times, interrogated as a "suspect". I was a security guard, it was an "occupational hazard" - but I am not going to try and explain that and the Finnish legal system and police procedure to any retarded drone after I've sat hours on a plane.
