Kela Child Benifit

Post by robert.K » Mon Dec 29, 2014 6:19 pm

Hi,
My child (4 years) is now receiving child benefit and I have residence permit type A. It seems I have to switch to B type permit as a student. And obviously the child will get B. So in this situation, will he be anymore eligible to get child benefit? and also what about his kela card ?

Do you have any link in what basis a child in Finland gets the Kela support? Is it mandatory for a children to have at least A type permit?

Regards,
Robert

Yes for both. The permit only needs to be valid for at least a year which your study permit would most likely be. B permit for study is only a problem when first applying for the Kela card.

Well, depends on what 'A' you're on now - like if you have a "P" then theres no need to "switch"... its when you apply for the next one when it comes to the grounds. But say you now have 3 years left on your A, you need to worry about it in 3 years, not before.
