Well, you could call the removal firm that I work for; it is a medium sized family firm that specialises in Finland - Europe / UK moves (other removal firms are of course available ;) ) .
I'm sure that five seconds of general Googlage would get you pointed in the right direction, but feel free to PM me if you would like the transport manager's direct number.

We have seven full size wagon and drag combinations and have at least one or two in the UK most weeks during the summer. October starts to get a bit quieter too, for all the removal firms, so you shouldn't have any difficulty getting something organised.

Driving to the UK is a ballache from Finland. what route do the professional removal firms take? is the ferry from Germany the cheapest way? we drove up through Denmark and Sweeden, it was long. im not going back anytime soon!

I'll be arriving in Rovaniemi in a LWB hi roof Transit Van on UK plates, if you fancy buying it and doing it yourself......

To Rovaniemi, the best/cheapest route for me is:

Ferries:
Harwich - Hook Of Holland
Rostock - Trelleborg

Then drive up east coast of Sweden and head a bit further north for Rovaniemi!

All depends what part of Finland you're in, I guess.....

The ferries cost up the wazoo from Helsinki (what doesnt). If driving's not an issue, Helsinki-Tallin-Riga-Vilnus-Gdansk... Takes a day to well beyond Riga and the highway is pretty good, but ot gets a bit dodgy before you hit the autobahns..

In nearly five years of regularly driving that route for my living, I have used the Vuosaari Travemünde ferry about 99 percent of the time.
Of course it's a large overhead, but we can use the crossing as a reduced weekly rest with regard to the tachograph regulations, and it also saves wages and fuel in comparison with the drive through Denmark and Sweden .

I've been via Stockholm, Helsingør/Helsingborg and Rødby/Puttgarden about twice, when I have had work in Sweden along the way, and also once I shipped out on a true freighter from Hanko to Rostock.

Many many, many years ago (with my car) I drove around Tornio/Haaparanta, and then to Bergen, from where I caught a ferry to Lerwick, on Shetland. From there another ferry to Aberdeen, and thence on down to London, via Exmoor... :D

We looked into the rostock-hook of Holland route and the ferrys were insane! like 500 gbp one way on some trips.

I was shocked that we didn't get asked for passport once the whole way except boarding the ferry from England. in Stockholm we saw 3 roma guys and one lady driving 2 cars (large ones) onto the ferry when they went on the ferry more than 5 children and one adult came out from the back of the cars, they must have been like sardines. they nearly made us miss the ferry because they were arguing as they didn't have correct documents for the 'legit' ones anyway and they were being threatening to the staff. there is no security on Scandinavian boarders. now they are in finland, who were they? one of the hidden children had severe special needs it will cost finnish taxpayer thousands now.

I think Victor Ek was the Finnish agent when I moved my stuff from Milan back to Finland last year, but it was my former employer who did all the arranging (and paid) so I'm not 100% sure ... http://www.victorek.fi/en/
the missus also had a quote from them a couple of years ago when we were thinking of importing another car from the UK - it was horrendously expensive.

If you can package everything yourself - Transfennica have a couple of boats going between Tilbury and several Finnish ports

I used them many moons ago to ship a car from Hanko to England when I didn't want to drive it, but I don't know if they'd accept anything other than containers or vehicles ... you might ask their UK office ... info.uk@transfennica.com
