Hi everyone
I live in Helsinki and am studying Finnish language now. Also I want to study English as well. So, can anyone recommend the best place for studying Enlish in Helsinki? Especially I hope to develop my listening and speaking skills.
Thanks

The "työväenopisto" has a lot of language courses. However, you can also join an "evening high school". The caveat with these will be though they're aimed at Finns learning English... So if you have a listening comprehension test the questions will be in Finnish. You might also look at http://www.eiraedu.fi (for both) but if you aspire for IELTS or Cambridge exams then also https://www.finnbrit.fi

Next week on Thursday, August 20 the Finn Brit is having an Open House. You can just walk in, any time after 12:00 and talk to the teachers there. You can also take a free level test (make a reservation before) and there will be some short taster sessions to give people an idea of the different courses being taught there. The class sizes are much smaller than at the työväenopisto but also more expensive. The courses are mostly taught in English (only the beginner courses use some Finnish) so they are especially accessible to foreigners who have no wish to learn English with a teacher who explains everything in Finnish! The other big advantage of the Finn Brit versus other places, is the social calendar. They organise different event each month aimed at getting people to socialise in English, such as talks, music events etc - all kinds of things.
Maybe I'll see you there.
