Hi Folks,

I have been in this forum for a certain time and I would like to thank the active participants for their precious information especially , Tummansininen for her objectivity in her replies. I would like also to share with you my information since the submission of my application until now when the decision has been made. I wish all others who are still waiting good luck.

1/17/2015 We have received the processing fee for your application.
1/17/2015 We have received your application and it is pending.
2/3/2015 You have proved your identity and a diary number has been created for your application. You can see the diary number at the top of the page. Your application has been placed in a processing queue.
3/5/2010 A customer number has been created for you. You can see your customer number at the top of the page.
8/19/2015 The processing of your application has started. Contacting us does not speed up the processing of the application. If we need further information from you, we will send you a request through this service.
8/26/2015 A decision has been made on your application.
8/26/2015 The decision can be read on your user account.
8/26/2015 You have received the decision.

Please let me know if you have any question about the attachment or how many times I have contacted the migri by phone ( 1 time only and I should not do it as it has no effect or influence on the process time of your application).

I have applied for the citizenship since October of 2014 and it has been stuck "In progress" till date. Is there anything I can do? Because this has taken remarkably long...

You can use your legal right to get an estimate on when a decision is given.

How do you advice I go about it?

i applied onjan 2015 and i called yesterday migri and they told that there are 4 qeues and my application is on a ''other'' qeue and it takes 18 months so may be your application is also in this qeue

i have a national passport but they consider me an 'other' qeue there is 4 qeues if u know that cos when i came to finland i dont have a resident permit on that time ,

There's no minimum income. The numbers on Migri are for residence permit. You just need to show how you've secured your livelihood in Finland. If you don't have a job, taking 200 euros from Kela, and then living normally, then you're probably doing something fishy.

You don't need any earned income. Perhaps they want to see you get from somewhere as much as toimeentulotuki (including possible toimeentulotuki payments)
Prior to 2003 or so the law was different.

No experience, but I don't see what would be the problem if you do not violate the "continuous residence" terms and you see that your residence permit stays valid.

what is the diary number and how we find out out ? i dont understand i get my RP in 3 months and 3 weeks so why citizenship applicitaion take so long time ? i applied on jan 2015 .

Queues in the processing of citizenship applications continue

The Finnish Immigration Service received over 30% more citizenship applications in 2014 than during the previous year. This has created a bottleneck, and processing times for citizenship applications have been longer than normal since the beginning of 2015.

Of course since that bulletin was issued this modern day "Völkerwanderung" started in earnest and they have had plenty to do at Migri.
