Residence permit for an employed person

Hi all,

I'm a newbie on forum but I see that you really help eachother. I just wanted to ask a few questions about residence permit. (not specialist)

Last summer I visited Finland for touristic purposes also I met with a few companies about my expertise. One of these companies want to hire me now. We signed a contract, they sent me all the documents what I need for application. I applied to the embassy last week in electronic format.

- Application still on "waiting for process" step. So I understand that evaluation period will start after I visit the embassy physically. I thought they will start the process with the documents I sent in electronic format but there is no action till today. Does the process really start after I visit the embassy?

- How long does it take to get a decision? I mean approximately. Starting date seems 1st of Feb on contract but I wonder if I can get a result before this date.

- Is there an interview or do I just have to prove my identity wtih my passport and the hard copy documents?

- My education still continues but I have good experience on my job and they hired me because of my skills. So if you have to give a number about my application, what is the percentage to get residence permit?

There is no work skill evaluation for work permits. You don't mention your field of work so it's impossible to guess how the labour market investigation ends up.
