[Joensuu] Question about shared apartment

Post by lam.huynh » Tue Apr 26, 2016 1:52 pm

Hello everybody,
I am going to study in University of Eastern Finland (Joensuu campus) for a master degree in Autumn 2016.
After searching information in https://www.joensuunelli.fi/en/ there are 3 types of housing for student: shared apartment, family apartment and studio apartment.
I wondering that could I and my spouse (apply for an family tie resident permit) stay in the same shared apartment, I mean both of us living in 1 room of the shared apartment (for saving). Is this possible and legal in Finland ?
Thank you very much. :) :)

No it's not possible. Girls and guys are kept separated. If your wife is from opposite sex then it's not possible.

It's neither possible if you had the same gender! Thats against the rules and by doing that you risk being excluded from the housing programmes also in the future, and they will find out, I have experience with that.

Thank you Marsh and Swissguy :) . I sorry to hear that Swissguy :( .
I want to extent this question a little bit. Although the studio apartments are rare and difficult to apply, is it possible if we (me and my spouse) rent and live in a studio apartment ? :?:

Hi!
Why not apply for a family apartment instead?
- - You don't need to be legally married for that.

That's cool roger.
I've never been in Finland before so I'm a little bit confuse about this situation.
Apart from being disturbed by other mates   , Family apartments seem to be the safe choice.
Perhaps, I'm going to apply for family apartment, and see what happen after several months.
Anyway, thank you for sharing roger. :)

Hi anh, studio apartment would be the best choice for you guys. Not too big and quite afordable. It'd rather pay for a studio in the city centre than a family apartment in suburbs
