EU Bluecard?

Post by Ozmotix » Fri Oct 07, 2016 10:26 am

Hello everyone,

First of all, I am a new member and I want to thank everyone contributing to this forum. It's been very interesting to read others' experiences.

now to the point: I have been recently offered a job in vantaa and seriously considering taking it. Me and my wife are planning to make the move together and we are both non-EU citizens. I qualify for the specialist RP but on the enterfinland website there is such a thing called EU bluecard. What are the advantages of this card compared to specialist RP? The reason I am asking is that the offered salary is slightly lower than the requirement for the bluecard and I am wondering if I should negotiate for a higher gross salary or is it not worth it?

It could be a coincidence. But it could also means that your employer limits your flexibility this way.

Anyhow, once you have Blue Card from one country, swapping it should be as easy as cake given Finland has one of the highest earning requirements to be eligible for Blue card.
Such a right does not exist:
2. As soon as possible and no later than one month after entering the territory of the second Member State, the EU Blue Card holder and/or his employer shall present an application for an EU Blue Card to the competent authority of that Member State and present all the documents proving the fulfilment of the conditions set out in Article 5 for the second Member State. The second Member State may decide, in accordance with national law, not to allow the applicant to work until the positive decision on the application has been taken by its competent authority.

Scanning the Finnish aliens act the only difference I can really see here is that the Blue card is always for two years at a time. The specialist permit is usually given as 1+4.

Thank you for the answers, I also found out that it is not possible to get finnish blue card if you haven't lived in a member state for at least 18 months (every country has different requirements for bluecard).

Another question if I may: I don't know if anyone had similar experience but I couldn't find clear information on this also. When I apply for the specialist RP, can my wife apply with me? or I have to be granted my RP and after that wife can apply on the grounds of family ties?

You can apply at the same time. It's best to do it that way so the applications get linked.

I tried google. EU blue card gave me for example these hits:
http://ec.europa.eu/immigration/who-doe ... -the-eu_en
http://www.migri.fi/working_in_finland/ ... _blue_card
http://google.com http://translate.google.com http://urbandictionary.com
Visa is for visiting, Residence Permit for residing.

Hi,

It could be great if someone lists if any advantages/differences in between Special RP and EU Blue Card?
As far as I see from migri.fi, both have the same applciation procedure and conditions are well explained.
But no info about differences in practice!

Practically both are same. Blue card would be favorable if you consider moving to next EU country. The time spent in other EU country can count for permanent residence permit in this case, but still not so clear. If you have both options I would recommend to go for a EU blue card.
