I applied in July 2018, the employment office made the decision on 18/12/2018, waiting since then.
So after a long wait, I received a positive decision on 17/04/2019 :beer_yum: Since my wife's permit was also pending from February 2018, and she was also served with the positive decision on the next day i.e 18.04.2018.

Best of luck everyone!! :beer_yum: :beer_yum:

Dear myth,

Congratulation!
Did the Migri request you some Supplementary documents? How long the Migri sent the decision after you submitting the supplementary documents?

Indeed good news :) Thanks. I hope the same for you too. Btw you should probably ping them again, it might have been pushed in the backlog, you never know.

Hey,
About the supplement, yes they did ask for it especially study related stuff (as I was transitioning from B (student) to A permit) so to be specific, the following was asked

1. Student certificate if still studying or Graduation certificate if graduated,==> I submitted my study certificate.
3. Clarification on my absenteeism at the school. ==> A brief summary of the reason of absenteeism at school

I had taken leave of 6 months from school just so that I won't be illegally working and be on the safe side. And this was to cover the probation period of my work.

The last supplement document was submitted in the morning and was granted during the day.

I hope this helps :beer_yum:

Hi All,

I applied for work permit(specialist). Status is waiting for processing since last 1 month. Any idea how long it may take? Anyone got positive response & how was the waiting period?

Yes I got it just recently. It's a bit delayed and I emailed them for update after one month, then they immediately processed and granted my permit within a week.

After positive response the permit card will take about 2 weeks to arrive, only then you may enter Finland.

I had applied for work permit-specialist at Delhi VFS on 16March. But still status is waiting for processing since then. Has anybody got the decision who had applied in march?
I believe its 1month processing time for specialist.

Has anyone applied for a specialist permit from the U.S.? Applied April 24 and still "waiting to be processed." Also, my spouse applied at the same time for a residence permit on the basis of family ties. Will it take longer for him than for me?

Hey Lara,
Quick question ; how can your husband apply based on family ties when you don't have a permit yet in Finland?
I am asking (and I can be dead wrong lol) that you can only apply on family ties with someone who already has a "right of residence" in Finland, either with a residency permit or being Finnish citizen.

Hi Maeke - Thanks for your question. According to EnterFinland it is possible to apply on the basis of family ties at the same time as the sponsoring party applies for a residence permit on the basis of work, which is what he has done. Having said that, we’re totally fine with my going first if my permit is issued. When I applied at VFS, they said one month maybe less and it’s been 6 weeks.

Who did you email to ask for an update?

The contact email mentioned in migri FAQ. They said specifically you cannot ask for anything but an update of estimate. And that's what I did.

Thanks a groot - I emailed them yesterday and received a prompt reply saying it should take about 6 months. :(
But at least some information is better than no information.
