Student Permit Appeal

Post by finndian » Sat Jun 29, 2019 11:52 am

Hi all,
I have some questions regarding student permit:

1) I am from India. I applied for my student permit on Apr 2, and it is still in process. However, they asked me for the same documents again, even though I had submitted everything initially. Has anyone else experienced this?

2) If my student permit is rejected, can I come to Finland on travel visa and appeal there?

It's been an anxious time waiting, and any info is appreciated, thanks!

Your number 2 question; were you asked to supplement your application if yes then you need to submit the documents again

@spicey yes I did submit, but the weird part is that I had submitted all those exact documents when I first applied, and yet they asked me for the same documents again. :/ That's why I wondered if it's normal they do that.

*********So UPDATE*******:

I called migri and they said my application is still in the "waiting for supplement" phase. Truth is that they had asked for supplemental information almost 4 weeks ago. I submitted the documents within 4 days, and now even after the deadline has passed, it was still in the same status. When I called them, they literally said, "oh, the person handling your application must have forgotten to check". How can they say they forgot? I have to be in Finland in few days and they still haven't even processed. Their reply sounded very negligent.
Just wanted to know, has anyone else experienced something like this? The wait time is killing me, and any feedback/info would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

Yes, something similar. I applied for my residence permit via enterFinland on April 12, 2019. Booking an appointment for the Finnish Embassy in Abuja was difficult so it took me four (04) weeks to schedule an appointment (10/05/2019). I traveled to Nigeria for my appointment at the application center on Monday May 27, 2019 and I visited the Embassy for my interview on Wednesday May 29, 2019.
I was asked to supplement my application on 06/06/2019.Presently, I am waiting for the decision on my application.

Thanks for sharing your experience@Leon93.

I believe there's lack of accountability in migri. They've been toying with my life for two years now. Last year they took 6 months to give me a negative decision. This year I made sure they have no objection at all, yet they managed to re-ask the same documents and now seemed to have "forgotten" my application. I only hope I won't lose my study place because of their sheer negligence.

Why did you get a negative decision?

When you visited the embassy for finger prints, did they give you a separate form to fill?Like a student residence permit question form?

I didn't fill any other form, wasn't given one.

Last time I received a negative decision as I had insufficient funds.

Does the form filling make a difference?

Ah,okay.

I don't really know,I doubt it does. I honestly don't know why,my friend applied for the student residence permit and at t hr e embassy was given another form to fill and send.Asking about clarification of funds. How much money did you have in your account the previous time you applied for it?Did you also have to pay school fees?

Apologies for the questions.
