First student residence permit

Post by Mitch19 » Mon Jul 01, 2019 12:50 pm

Hello everyone,

I have a question - My friend from Kenya applied for studies here that start in autumn. He was accepted and paid all the school fees, submitted all the documents through enter Finland and today went the embassy for Finger print identification.

While there, the lady who served her did the usual (fingerprints) and taking copies of the passport then gave her another document to fill and scan it to enter Finland. Its called - Student residence permit question form.

The form had numerous question among them wether they have applied for a visa to Finland and denied - The answer being YES - Early this year,he applied for a visiting visa and was denied based on lack of sufficient information.

Question is - Will it work against him if we indicate that? Now that he is applying for a student residence permit with full school fees paid?

Has anyone else had to fill this form? What would be your advice?

Thanks

Paying the school fees does not guarantee a residence permit. The process to get it is clear and if all the requirements are fulfilled he will get it.
He shall indicate that visa was denied as anyway they will find it from visa registry. Getting a visa has different requirements (visa code) so these two cannot be compared.

Aha,

Thank you very much for your insights.

Another question that is asked is - Who paid his school fees? His girlfriend is the one who partly paid for the school fees through taking a loan.Should we mention the same or will that reduce the chances of his Residence permit issuance?

yes mention it. Do not lie. They may ask for proof of source of funds and if they see that you have lied about something they will deny the application.
