Hörsyileviä

Post by CrazyDiamond28 » Wed Oct 23, 2019 10:08 pm

Hello,

I am trying to get a hang of the word „hörsyileviä”.

At first I thought it may come from the verb hörsyillä, which I seem to find nowhere, sadly. Also, if I look for hörsyileviä only, I get several examples and while trying to grasp the meaning from the context, I am guessing that it may mean ravishing, ravaging, wild? Somewhere along the line?

Thank you in advance for the help.

Quite a rare word you have found :)
I didn't find it any of the dictionaries at https://www.kotus.fi/en/dictionaries
If something would be described to me as hörsyilevä, I'd probably think about some fluffy, bushy flower.

Indeed, it seems like it's extremely rare!

But thank you for your insight, I was really looking to find out what a native thinks when hearing the word, since I am translating a novel and I want to be as precise as possible.

Kiitoksia! :D

While the word hörsyilevä brings up images of greenery and flowers, it could be used to describe anything as such. Kinda like sprawling, but localized, not large area.

Could you provide context where the word is used?
