They have added this info now. 18 months was never mentioned anywhere before as per my knowledge. I had heard about only one case that took 18 months but just because there was some problems with documents of the applicant which prolonged the case to 18 months. But now mentioning 18 months normally for processing is something which is really scary...
Yeah, it is crazy. I hope they mean in case of documents problem.. But yet, it is not like 12 to 18, but 7 to 18, so maybe it's not too bad. Let's see how it goes.
Yeah but mentioning maximum time limit means that they r not in hurry and we are not liable to ask them until it reaches the maximum time limit. First they said 7 then 12, now 18....who knows next?
Yeah. For now time calculator on migri site still says 12 months but it's rarely updated... I hope they will still keep 12 month official.

I think this prolongation of time period is by design. They are cutting down the number of people becoming Finnish citizens. Actually they have already cut it down to half by introducing 12 months processing time. And they were still not happy so now making it 18 months

At least they are not ready to give citizenship to those who have taken social security benefits from KELA.

It's not true. The Nationality Act has no such restrictions.

I guess they are delaying those applications who have taken kela benefits at some points.

Yes it's not law but practically they delay those cases as much as they can.

Hi fellows, I have been following this sub-fourm for sometime now. I applied very late (Oct 2019) as compared to many here. Yesterday I received an email from migri just reassuring me that my application is in enterfinland and is awaiting for processing (not in processing). And then general information that if I am curious I can check the expected time online....
I was wondering if any one else on the forum received a similar email?

Yes, everyone gets this email within 3 months of applying. So, just ignore it and wait until they ask to submit additional documents.

Hi guys,

I just checked my account, and I saw that I have a new message. It says "8.1.2020 A decision has been made on your application. " However, I cannot see the decision, and there is no file to open. Can you tell me if this is normal and what does it mean?

Best wishes and good luck to everyone on here.

Hi, this is my timeline. As you can see, it says that today I received a decision but I cannot see it. Is this normal, should I be excited that I received a decision, or is this just a bug due to the implementation of the new system?

Usually it's included as attachment under päätös or decision ..but as I read previously some people for some reason needed to fetch it personally!

Hi, thanks for the reply. Where should I pick it up from? The police station where I applied?
