Puoliherrasmies

Hi,
I would really appreciate your help with this word: puoliherras. Does it mean literally half-gentleman? What kind of image do Finnish natives have in mind when hearing this word?

First time hearing this and I am an immigrant myself.

I looked for the word on net and found this:
Turha on talonpojan opetella lukemaan ja kirjoittamaan. Sellaiset taidot tekevät hänestä puoliherran, jolle ei työ maistu. Tällaisia kauhukuvia maalailtiin 1800-luvulla, kun koulutus alkoi lisääntyä maaseudulla.

”Puoliherra oli halventava nimitys”, selittää tutkija Konsta Kajander. ”Sitä käytettiin alempisäätyisestä, jonka ajateltiin yrittävän päästä herraksi, esimerkiksi talonpojasta, joka hankki koulutusta tai alkoi pukeutua herraskaisesti.”
I don't think this word is in use anymore.

yes, it is not widely used, I am not sure if I have heard it ever (native speaker). It could be something coined at that moment. I find it slightly negative, insinuating that somebody is pretending or trying to be a gentleman but does not manage to do it completely, which would mean that the person is then behaving badly, rude whatever.
