Speeding fine

Post by joepublic » Sun Jun 28, 2020 8:33 pm

Hey,

I got stopped by the police and was told I was doing over 60k/m in a 40K/m zone in a scooter. My mistake and happy to pay the fine.

However, the policeman said he would drop the calculated speed to 59 km/ph so that I wouldn’t get a fine based on my salary. My fine is €200.

My salary is approx 3k per month after tax. I found a police calculator and it seems the day fine would only be approx 49€. He said it would be more like 500€.

Can anyone help to clear this up? Thanks!

The lowest speeding fine based on day fines is 10 day fines.

Thanks, yes that makes sense. Weird to call them day fines, as I just assumed you get one fine per day :)

Presumably he would have issued 10 daily fines based on your numbers (did not check otherwise).

"Day" refers to your daily income (with some deductions), you would have been fined 10 or 12 days of your income.

The day is reference to income per working day.
