Hi guys. I have been living for 1.5 years on type B and over 2.5 years on type A. I will meet oleskeluaika requirement in 10 months. Given the fact that the process takes nowadays about a year, do you guys think I can apply now (hopefully I will meet oleskeluaika requirement when my application is being handled?)
You can apply only 90 days in advance of when you meet the required time. They will turn you away at the interview if you are not 90 days or less. It happened to my family member.

Hi everyone, the time calculator on migri website has reduced the decision time to "5 to 6" months for those who applied in enterfinland (not paper application). What happens to those who are waiting for more than 10 months already?
Is it adviseable to send an email to migri and ask? Ofc i understand that my guess as good as anybody elses in the group, so just looking for opnions :D

wow... what a pleasant surprise!

I proved my identity on 17.3.2020, thought there wouldn't be any news until early 2021. And now things turn up unexpectedly!

If you choose "Yes" to Did you arrive in Finland without getting a residence permit in advance?, processing time still shows 12 months. Do you have any idea why that would be? For EU citizens, answer to this question will be yes.

I have never found Migri webpage processing time checker to be accurate. I wouldn’t trust it at all other than maybe a general idea of possible waiting time.

Residence permit is for non-EU citizens, EU-citizens settling in Finland only need ''residence registration''. The answer to that question for EU citizen should be ''no''.

When did you notice this please?
I proved my identity on 29.01.2020 and since then my application is still in stage 1 and there hasn't been any message from migri except the autogenerated message every 3 months. I will send then a message tomorrow to ask what's happening.

I just checked randomly yesterday, as i applied on 06.10.2019 and it is already 10 months. Still in "waiting for processing". During this time just got 4 emails, 3 months apart telling me to chill if the time in the time calculator has not exceeded. Yesterday when i checked it told me that my application has exceeded the usual waiting time and thats how i came across this update.

I tried using the the time update now and it didn't give me any more time and 'The processing of your application is taking longer than expected. The processing time can be longer for example if further documents are needed for the application.' I find this funny because I have only received the autogenerated emails every 3 months and no specific requests from migri.
I will wait till next week, maybe there would be any effect on enterfinland, if not will send them a mail.

I guess no need to do that. I asked them and here is the reply:
"Tack för din fråga.
Din ansökan om medborgarskap väntar på ett beslut. Bearbetningstider är 11-12 månader. Ansökän behandlas senaste i september eller oktober.

Med vänliga"

How should we comprehend this new estimation if it is not deemed to be true?

Well my ASSUMPTION is that sine automated process came into force fully in March 2020 so the new time calculator is based on that (thats why the extra question of if you applied in Enter Finland is included in calculator). So the new estimates are true probably for those who applied in March 2020 and afterwards.
The old applicants ( i call us the transition applicants, since we were caught up in transition ;)) are still delt with the old time line. Since few of us are left in the system and majority is from 2020 thats why the esitmation system is skewed in their favor.

Just like you, just trying to find logical explaination of this new development, eventhough nothing is logical when dealing with migri.

sounds logical.

A notice from maahanmuuttovirasto about changes of estimated time processing.

It doesn’t give any senses. Applying automaton system is not a new law. It is the improvement/development/advancement of processing system. Whether you submitted last year or after March 2020 they must process according the processing queues.

You may have overlooked some comments a few pages back that some applicants who submitted their application this year received positive decisions already. If what you said was correct, then what sense would that be for applicants for who submitted their application last year still awaiting process?
