If you don’t have enough credit history, they will want a deposit. It’s possible to get one without a job.

No.toystory wrote: ↑Fri Aug 14, 2020 4:45 pmAlso in united states, as a new comer you can establish credit history by buying something from a white goods store like Sears or Bestbuy and open a small line of credit which will then allow positive entries on your credit file each month. Is there anything similar in Finland?
It is also dubious that paying back a small credit you don't need would indicate you will pay back a large credit you do need.
If you even fail to pay small things, how could anyone trust you on big things?

Unpaid parking fines are not part of credit records because the public sector can take them directly to enforcement without going through the courts. It will be on the enforcement record though (I haven’t heard of mobile phone companies pulling that one).toystory wrote: ↑Fri Aug 14, 2020 5:57 pmLet's see, should an unpaid parking fine preclude you from obtaining a home loan? I don' think so. You can have your own reasons for not paying something small, let's say for example, you dispute the parking ticket. It's not a loan, you did not borrow money. That's the way it works in USA and Canada any way.FinlandGirl wrote: ↑Fri Aug 14, 2020 5:42 pmIf you even fail to pay small things, how could anyone trust you on big things?
You must still paid parking fines if you dispute them. You will get refunded if you win.

Finland only operates negative history. The best record is empty.
Re: Phone contract
Could I ask what documents do I need for phone contract? Bank account I assume, passport, and deposit? The bill payment is automatic through bank, right? Could I have two lines under my name, one for my wife?

If you have bank codes then you can order online without any other documents.

Re: Phone contract
It's a personal identity code and the distinction is relevant because you can have one without ever being entitled to social security.
Or any other type of strong online authentication.heretostay wrote: ↑Mon Aug 17, 2020 1:44 pmIf you have bank codes then you can order online without any other documents.

Re: Phone contract
Thanks. I have a question, in many forms they ask for phone number. I don't have a local one because I would like to take PIC, open bank account and buy a postpaid number. I read that they don't convert anymore prepaid to postpaid with same number. If I take a prepaid number and then I have to change to postpaid number, do I have to declare my phone number to many places/forms again? Is there anywhere online that I declare and it is easy or it is paperwork to declare a new number? Or no need to declare it somewhere if I change my phone number?
