For how long were you registered as student in Finland?

The Migri website says that time on B permit is not counted for the 4 years based on strong ties.

16 months as B permit , 3 years 11 months as A.
That's less than 4 years on A, and with B counted half that's 4 years 7 months which is less than 5 years.

https://migri.fi/en/period-of-residence
I didn’t find where it says that B permit time is not included in 4 years or for strong ties.

Any person who is waiting 19 months or more and hasn't gotten a decision yet?
Or any person who applied on 2019 and got the response recently?
It’s been 18 months, 19th is ongoing. I asked and got the same reply with the “currently overloaded with applications etc etc... and that decision time is 5-19 months. Proved ID in Oct 2019.
For me is about 18 months also, proved ID nov 2019. I have some other friends, all middle-eastern or sub-continental, who wait around same timing. Was wondering if we have anyone waiting more than 19 months from the same demographics and haven't received a decision yet?
So frustrating all these fake excuses and discrimination. 😟
I wish they would be honest if they don't want to process the application timely so we could make decision for our lives.

It’s same here, few friends who applied in nov are still waiting. Things might get better (not for us but others from the same backgrounds as you mentioned) as I saw on migri’s website that they are hiring 4 or 5 people to deal with the backlog of applications in Helsinki, raisio, Oulu and Lahti starting from May until dec.

Got my positive decision today🎉

Visited migri on 22.09.2020, so overall took ~6months. I supplemented my application with new payslips and travel info every 2 months or so.

In the morning my Kamu queue number was 2181. And then i got decision in few hours without any further requests or being in stage 2.

I'm from European country, stayed as student with B RP for ~4 years and then ~3 years with A working RP. So resident time on B permit counts if it's not interrupted!

Wish everyone to get their decision soon😊

It has always been 5-7 Month estimation for the past weeks. It's 5-19 ONLY in the time estimator on the website not kamu chatbot and I assume the real estimate is 5-7 but they had to have 5-19 somewhere just so that people who are stuck in the backlog are included in the estimation. Pure assumption tho because to 5-19 is not a a proper estimation (there's over a year between 5 months and 19 months) 😂😂😂

One question, for those who have been waiting for 19 months and over. What was the duration left on your permit when you submitted your application, and is the permit still valid now or duration ended?
This is my 15th month of waiting, and my 4 years RP will expire at the end of December. I guess if during the processing time your permit expires, that will stop the process as you cannot get citizenship without a valid residence permit. That means you’ll have to apply for residence permit again, which will take time and extend the processing time of the citizenship application.

Hi everyone!
I'm glad to here, I'll be submitting my application soon. As regards migri taking longer time to process some application, I was informed that it may be due to the way of proving the language proficiency. I heard that generally people with YKI tends to get decision faster and those with e.g vocational qualification degree takes longer to get decision. I'm not sure if this theory is true. Anyone in the house that proved language proficiency with e.g vocational qualification degree, maturity test... kindly confirm this theory pls.

At the time of application, i still had one year validity of my RP. I got the PR 6 months before the expiry of my RP. The permit has to be valid throughout the time while citizenship application is in process. otherwise the processing is stopped until the permit is renewed.

Russian nationality, came to Finland with a student RP in 2015, got type A RP in 2018, and have been working since. Period of residence 4 years if combined with half time on type B visa.

Hey guys,

I have been asked some additional documents today. I sent them. There were really weird questions lol. No answer or decision so far. And my stage is still waiting for processing (stage 1).

Anyone has experience if decision is made right after additional documents sent? Did you also get very detailed questions? And was decision negative or positive?

Thanks.
