I came as student in 2013, got one year work permit in 2015 extended to 4 year work permit in 2016, gained permanent residence status in 2020 (after applying for citizenship in Oct 2019). Applied on the basis of YKI test. Unfortunately my home country ended up in the list of countries with identity establishment problems. When my application moved to second stage on 04.05.2021, I checked my study info page and it was accessed on the same date by migri early in the morning. That sums up the whole case :)
Oh daaamn!! Wishing you all the best! Hopefully if you’re clean, you’ll get a positive decision
Hi guys, happy to share, few minutes ago I received the positive decision. All in all took 19 months 2 weeks. Good luck to all waiting
I am happy to hear so, congrats!
cheers !

Thank you. It was agonising 19 months. But “all is well that ends well” :)

I am still waiting. Since 4.05.2021 my application moved to second stage. Its stuck there since. I wrote to migri on 11.05.2021 (after exactly 19 months). They replied: "as soon as the case officer has checked the conditions you will get the decision." So now waiting for that. I have not been asked for any extra information as yet. so makes me wonder what is going on now. However, there is nothing much to do than WAIT.

19months?? Woow! Were you on a 4 years R or PR? Did you apply based on family route, studies route or asylum route?
I’m very interested. Which year did you come to Finland? Did you use yki test certificate or diploma in Finnish. As I heard those who are with yki test gets faster decision

Interestingly enough, I have not been able to check my study info since last year as it gives me error 'Tapahtui odottamaton virhe, emmekä juuri nyt pysty näyttämään tietoja'. I am just wondering how you could check and I couldn't? Are there any one else who gets the same error?

Usually if you are doing it in chrome with auto translation on, it gives error. I usually used safari without any translation and it worked every time.

Hei everyone,

I managed to make a small sized war last two weeks with migri accusing them of breaking the constitution and informing the Ombudsman on the issue.I raised the issue to Maria Ohisalo and oikeuskansleri Tuomas Pöysti.
I built my case on strong legal grounds and i was contacted by the manager of the whole citizenship department at Migri as well as the ombudsman office. I knew from the beginning this would only work if i have the diaarinumerot of differently treated cases where applicants have same residence ground. I knew also that nobody is going to give me that and that foreigners here would all be scared :D . Why would someone who got fast decision put himself in troubles? Anyway I was contacted from the ombudsman to give diaarinumerot and specific case based info. Migri talked on and on about how sorry they are regarding the confusing info and the contradicting processing time blabla ofcourse denying all info related to the allegations. They also said they will consider now improving the processing time checker.

If I could provide case comparison proving the differential treatment and making a strong case out of it to the ombudsman, this would cause dramatic change. In this case, the ombudsman would find the practice of migri to be in violation of the Yhdenvertaisuusperiaate (perustuslain 6§) and he will give official statement that migri has to change its system. This would lead to questioning in the parliament to the minister Ohisalo.

This will never happen, because foreigners are in weak situation and will shy away from any fight. I dont think it is wise for me to give one or two cases since i know nobody would want to get to that fight with me and as Genghis Khan once said "only a fool fight a lost battle". I kinda chickened out to the manager of the citizenship department so that the issue doesnt get further escalated, which wouldnt be in to my favor as a solo fighter. Ombudsman office told me they will not further investigate the issue unless further evidence and cases info is given.

I did it, although I know that my citizenship application would be quickly processed anyway. I just dont like how unjust things are with migri especially for others. I hope that changes something in the future maybe even for the next applicants in 2022.

Have a good day everyone!

Unfortunately I don't have access to Safari. However, I checked multiple browser such as chrome, Opera, Firefox etc. None of them worked for my case. I started to think there is something wrong with my profile.

RangaistusSakkorangaistusOdotusaika

30 - 59 päiväsakkoa 1 vuosi tekopäivästä

60 - 99 päiväsakkoa 2 vuotta tekopäivästä

100 - 240 päiväsakkoa 3 vuotta tekopäivästä

10 -14 kertaa vähintään päiväsakkorangaistus 3 vuotta viimeisestä tekopäivästä

ehdollinen vankeusrangaistus 3 vuotta tekopäivästä

yhdyskuntapalvelu 3 vuotta tekopäivästä

Who could explain to this tekopäivastä I am Bir confused abut it for example if crime happened 2017now we are 2020 already past 4 years. What could be the punishment? Only 1 crime . Can be the problem?
Many thanks

Hi,

I'm a EU citizen and I've been a temporary from March 2014 to June 2015 and then a permanent from June 2015. Decided recently to apply for citizenship.

I'm still waiting for:
- the results from the YKI test that I sat for on 29.3.
- the palkkatodistus

I've filled in the application and after I get the above two things I'm going to submit it (hopefully by the end of May). I'll attach:
- the scanned title page of my passport
- the scanned kielitodistus
- the palkkatodistus (scanned if on paper, I have no idea in what form I'm going to get it)
- account statements from my bank account for the past six months

One of parts that I found the hardest to fill in the application was the question whether I've been outside of Finland, when, where and for what reason. After I spent several days digging in electronic boarding passes, photos, emails and what not I managed to come up with the nearly exhaustive list of 50 travels.
I finally got the YKI-test results and just submitted the application. I have an appointment in Migri tomorrow.

I'm going to take with me my passport and the original documents but one thing that I am not sure about is:

Do I need to also give them a passport photo?
