Matthew Kirk, British Ambassador to Finland, said "I am very proud that the first ever Millennium Technology Prize is to be awarded to Sir Tim Berners-Lee, the British inventor of the World Wide Web. The United Kingdom and Finland are at the forefront of innovation and technology: how fitting, then, that the Finnish Technology Award Foundation should today recognise the work of a remarkable British innovator.
