Hi everyone
I'm struggle with problem of second generation immigrants. Me and my Wife want to move with our 4 years old daughter to Finland but I'm worry if it's good for her. Is she gonna have problem with her identity?
I'm Polish and my wife is Chinese. Most of our daughter life were in Poland.
Have you experienced the identity problem as secound generation immigrant or your child?
How Finland approach to this problem?
How do parents can deal with this problem?
If you have any experience please share. If you know any specialist that is dealing with this topic in Finland I would be happy if you can share the contact to him.
Thank you

She will likely think about this in puberty or later, but there are more important things for a happy childhood.

So you want to tell me this problem for immigrants children is not exists in Finland? I know it's very common in USA. How in Finland people deal with this problem?
Re: Second generation immigrants identity problem
Foreign kids in Finland quickly integrate through school, clubs, friends etc. Your daughter is so young that she will have no problem in that field. Unless you'll try to isolate her from the outside world and try to enforce her heritage. After a couple of years, she might even be more integrated than you.
My kids were somewhat older when they came, but they are now as Finnish as they could be.
