Washing machine in dishwasher space?

Post by agroot » Tue Aug 16, 2022 8:13 pm

Here I come with new silly questions again - has anyone tried to install a washing machine in the place intended for dishwasher in the kitchen of an apartment?

The dishwasher place provides a cold water pipe, a sewer pipe and electricity, a pan to prevent water damage and the dimension is similar to front load, so why not? I don't want the noisy machine in bathroom to disturb my relaxing time.

Would it cause any problem? There seems to be insurance rules saying one must turn off water tap or unplug power for washing machine, but it's impossible for dishwasher yes? Also what about cleaning? :?:

The tap should also have a switch for a dishwasher.

That would be the thing I would be most worried. I lose change all the time in my washer and thus clean the strainer quite often, at least once a month. The filth from the filter is easy to deal with in bathroom, but I wouldn't want it all over my kitchen. And at least with my washer it will be all over the floor, no easy way to put anything under it to catch the water and debris that comes out when opening the filter.

Wouldn't it be better to check your pockets first rather then keep opening up the filter housing? I have had my clothes washing machine over 10 years and I think I've had to check the filter twice in that time. In normal use it never needs attention.
The filter isn't there to trap small bits of fabric but to stop the motor being damaged by coins/buttons etc - at least that's how my Bosch washing machine works.

Yup, it certainly would be better to check pockets. And I usually do. Key word being usually. Thus there seems always be some crap in strainer when I check it.
