Permanent resident card renewal

Post by Jaffa_Nutella » Sun Nov 27, 2022 2:16 am

Hello,
My permanent resident card will expire soon and I need to renew it. Any advices on how long the process will take and if I can leave Finland while waiting for the new card?
Thank you.

For me, it was the fastest process in the history of Finnish processing!
It took Migri 2 days from the appointment to take a decision to renew the card, and it took 2 days to print and deliver the card!

Apply online, if you log in to EnterFinland using the bank credentials, then may be no need for the appointment in Migri.

There is no decision to be taken since the residence permit is permanent.

This is different from residence permit extensions where Migri has to make a decision whether the extension should be granted, just like getting your Finnish passport renewed is a lot faster than getting a decision on a citizenship application.

Thank you for your reply.
May I ask if you needed to submit an application to renew the permanent resident permit card? I've searched on migri and they mentioned that I don't need an application form.
Regards.

Yes, no decision.
I meant "order" to get a new card.

It took Migri 2 days to order a new card.

There is a simple form to fill in Enter Finland:
https://enterfinland.fi/eServices/info/ ... ardrenewal

Otherwise Migri officer will do it during the appointment.
