Gracefully bowing out now. I just got my positive decision now!!
Congratulations mate! If I am not mistaken, from the people who had posted on this forum and not from the countries in the list, you hold the record for the longest wait!

SUPO has been doing random chats with citizenship applicants for past twenty years. And a number of Russians had such chats and got their decisions fast still. Even nowadays.
Is this just your opinion or estimation or what? Because I don't believe this.

SUPO has historically stayed completely out of anything except coming to get your ass when it's time to be deported, or for investigating cases of fraud.

Same as the others I would like to offer you a big congratulations. I know you were one of those waiting the longest.

Hope you find that it was worth the wait in the end.

Is this also your estimation or your opinion or what? Because you don't give any facts either.

That is just not true, it's part of their duties to issue clearance on PR/citizenship matters. It would be weird if they didn't.

I personally had a chat with them and got my decision in 10 months which was on the lower end of Migri's estimate timespan at the time.

Hi guys!

I have applied in the beginning of September 2022, so right now it’s my 10th month of waiting. Some of my friends with the similar background who have applied also around my time have got the decision or at least in the second stage. I’ve decided to contact the officer to know, what is the approximate handling time, so I’ve got answer that it is 18 months 🥶

It’s interesting how the system of queue works and what factors influences it 🤔 Anyways, still waiting …

Hello
I applied in June 2022 and I have some friends from the same background who applied with me or even later and got their decision. Quiet funny. What’s your queue number now? Mine is 32xx

Same here, more or less. Applied August 2022. Queue # now 36xx. Stage one. Self-employed (TMI), so am expecting it to take longer...

Holy heck, are people literally incapable of reading or searching their own info? How lazy has everyone got these days?

It's on the front of their freaking website. They're part of the national intelligence agency of the Ministry of the Interior. They are not supposed to get in touch with people unless it's a matter of national security, aka criminals, terrorism, immigrant fraud, this sort of thing. Look at their publishings and reports, they are all public. These guys are the guys that drag you out by your toenails and handcuff you to the plane if you refuse to be deported quietly. Their job is to profile and monitor people and black bag them if needs be.

Historically, it has been that SUPO contacting you about anything, it means someone, somewhere suspects you of something quite serious. I wouldn't be surprised if half the people on this forum are criminals or people of dubious background so I'm not even half surprised that you think having SUPO speak to you at all is just "normal". Maybe it's normal if you are a crook like Mamu who has been stealing social security benefits.

For the rest of us, we shouldn't ever expect or hope to hear from these guys for any reason.

As for how do I know? I've lived here for 14 years and I know at least two people who work for SUPO. Not a single one of my friends have ever had contact with them not even for a 'chat', but then I don't keep criminals as my friends.

From what their site says now, they're doing sweeps on Russian intelligence monitoring in Finland: https://supo.fi/en/-/russian-human-inte ... in-finland

Which is probably why another Russian user here got a visit from them. This is likely due to the war and the growing amount of Russians who are doing anything to move to Finland. They likely want to be sure of who they are letting in and if they have legitimate reasons for moving here or if they are just part of the 'war exodus'. In any case, they touch only a tiny fraction of immigration events and generally only where deportations are concerned. We just deported dozens of prominent Russian nationals, so making sure that none of their close family members are coming in, is obviously important and likely people are having their backgrounds checked to make sure that some oligarchs grandson isn't emigrating here.

Yeah, if you are a CRIMINAL, or suspected of being a threat to Finnish intelligence or national security.
Do you have any idea of what they do? They are not remotely interested in the common citizen.

I strongly suggest everyone ignore the numbskull going around in this thread antagonizing people (you all know who I mean). You can add people as “foe”s if you click on their profile and you won’t see their posts anymore.

But anyway, the point of me posting is that I have been following in this forum for years now and a number of people have reported getting a phone call from SUPO after applying for citizenship. It seems to be a random check but I would suppose if you have ties to politics here and abroad, have traveled to unusual places, have the same name as a person of interest somewhere, etc you would have a higher chance of being chosen. But for some, it’s just completely random. You’re probably not a criminal lol.

Hi,

I've got 2 year entry ban from Finland in 2022, one year already gone and next year, 2024 my ban period will be completed. I've complete degree from Finland and also have full-time work with Finnish country. Is it possible that next year I'll apply for RP and Migri will give me positive decision means will they consider my previous situation while giving decision? If anyone went through this situation, it would be great if can guide.

Thank you

I think it will depend on what made them ban you from the entry
